Stratosphere is Ready!

The detailed Stratosphere COVID-19 Policy Handbo  k has been made publicly available to ensure transparency between our team and clients. For a shortened version on what to expect with your next appointment read the communication below sent out on May 15th.

Hello Stratosphere Friends and Family!

We are looking forward to seeing you again very soon! Stratosphere officially reopens our doors on Tuesday, May 19th and there are some changes we want to share with you.

Based on guidance provided by our Public Health Officer and the BC Government, we have prepared a detailed COVID-19 policy handbook, outlining protective measures we will enact to keep you and the Stratosphere team safe.

How Does This Impact You?

Physical distancing. We are starting with a reduced team to ensure required physical distancing between stylist/client pairs. Our starting team includes; Adam, Dustin, Kendall, and Deb.

No reception or online booking. Stylists and esthetician will reach out to you directly regarding your appointment. Please contact your stylist/esthetician directly or email the salon to book your next appointment. We will respond as quickly as possible. Reception and online booking will return in future reopening phases.

Appointment only & no waiting area. You will be notified via text message 5 minutes prior to your appointment that your stylist or esthetician is ready for you. To avoid outside queuing, we recommend taking a walk through historic Gastown.

Symptom check. Before entering the salon, we will ask you to confirm you have no cold, flu, COVID-19 symptoms including coughing and sneezing. Clients with symptoms will not be allowed to enter the salon and will be provided resources for seeking medical advice.

Temperature check. We will ask to take your temperature using a no touch thermometer. Due to privacy concerns temperature checking is voluntary. Temperature data will not be stored or shared. Clients with a temperature above 37.5 Celsius will not be allowed to enter the salon and will be provided resources for seeking medical advice.

Bring your own mask. You will be required to bring and wear a basic non-medical mask to your appointment which loops behind your ears (not behind the head). Stylists and esthetician will also wear masks.

Masks must be worn when physical distancing between stylists/ esthetician and clients is not possible. Should you not have a mask, one will be provided at a cost of $2.

Are you higher-risk? Please let your stylist know when booking your appointment if you are considered higher-risk, including those over the age of 60 or with underlying medical conditions.

Price adjustments. A $3 client charge will be added to each appointment to offset the additional cost of personal protective equipment, barriers, etc. Also, please note that individual stylists/ esthetician may have adjusted pricing to account for reduced capacity.

What's Happening Behind the Scenes?

Staggered Appointments. To minimize client wait times and support physical distancing.

Disinfecting high touch surfaces. Extra time has been scheduled between appointments to allow for additional cleaning of high touch surfaces.

Protective equipment. A plexiglass barrier has been installed at the front desk. Disposable capes (recyclable) and towels (compostable) will be used.

Staff symptom check. Stylists and esthetician will not come to work if they have cold, flu, COVID-19 symptoms. If symptoms appear during the day, remaining appointments will be canceled and the stylist or esthetician will be asked to return home and seek medical advice.

Previous clients will be contacted and asked to seek medical advice.

Staff temperature check. Stylists and esthetician will have their temperature checked at the beginning of each shift. Any stylist with a temperature above 37.5 Celsius will be asked to return home and seek medical advice.

The Next Chapter

Coming back from a pandemic is new territory for all of us, but please know that safety is our top priority. The BC Government has laid out "a series of steps that we will take together to protect people and ensure that our province can come back from COVID-19 stronger than before."

As our current situation evolves, and additional guidance is provided, we will continuously look for ways to improve your experience, while making you as comfortable and safe as possible.

We are excited to see you back at Stratosphere! Please email the salon for your appointment or with any questions or concerns you may have.
